Marketing Campaign Analysis: Magazine Ads

1.- Print Isn’t Dead

By Migdal Insurance (2018)

https://www.bestadsontv.com/ad/96082/Migdal-Insurance-print-isnt-dead

This simple ad by Midgal Insurance stands out by only using a few words in a contrasting blue background. Migdal Insurance uses humor by joking about the state of the print industry stating, “Print Isn’t dead. It just retired.” Then, the ad draws a connection between retirement and having the right insurance behind you. Continue reading “Marketing Campaign Analysis: Magazine Ads”

Marketing Campaign Analysis: Newsprint Ads

1.- $1.25

By Stella Artois (2007)

https://aef.com/ad-campaigns/1-25/

This Stella Artois newsprint ad mimics a sale coupon; however, the ad actually states that with this coupon you will pay an extra $1.25 on your next beer purchase. The ad takes a humoristic stand by imitating a sale that is actually not a sale. Jokes aside, the ad reflects all the necessary items to include within a sale coupon.   Continue reading “Marketing Campaign Analysis: Newsprint Ads”

Marketing Campaign Analysis: TV Ads

1.- Walk With Me

By New Balance (2015)

https://aef.com/ad-campaigns/walk-with-me-2/

Walk With Me is a very interesting ad that features a young couple doing ordinary things such skateboarding, a walk on the beach, a relationship breakup and more. It appeals to the viewer’s empathy and connection to ordinary life. The ad video captures all these occurrences by only looking at their New Balance shoes as they go about their lives. The ad features lively background music without deliberate advertisement verbiage to the viewer. As the music and the ad come to an end, the New Balance logo and a hashtag #WalkWithMe appear on the screen.   Continue reading “Marketing Campaign Analysis: TV Ads”

Preparing for Long-Term Success (Part I)

Eric Ries closes his book, The Lean Startup, with an important discussion about bringing everything together to ensure startups leverage their initial foundations as they transition into more mature businesses. Ries writes, “I believe that with the proper foundation, Lean Startups can grow to become lean enterprises that maintain their agility, learning orientation, and culture of innovation even as they scale” (Ries, 2011, p. 182). Some of the most relevant factors will be explored over the next two posts. This post will focus on the first two factors: the power of small batches and growth metrics.
